Angelina Jolie 'requests maternity leave'

Hollywood beauty Angelina Jolie has fuelled rumours that she may be pregnant by telling those she works with that she will be taking the summer off.

According to the Mirror newspaper, the Tomb Raider star could be using the break to prepare for the birth of a child with her actor husband Brad Pitt.

The press has long been hinting at the possibility of Jolie being pregnant, having recently attended a number of premiers and events in flowing, shapeless gowns.

Suggestions have even been made that the actress is pregnant with twins.

She has so far not confirmed any of the speculation but has admitted she will be doing less promotional work for her latest films and not be attending the Cannes Film Festival.

Jolie and Pitt – who starred together in action flick Mr and Mrs Smith – already have four children: Maddox, Pax, Zahara and Shiloh.

Last week, a poll by Forbes magazine revealed that the pair were the world's most influential couple.
