Cooking, Freezing & Sterilising

Freezing

How should I defrost my frozen baby food?
Either leave the frozen food in the fridge overnight or defrost the food in a microwave. Make sure that you heat the food until its piping hot, and then stir to get rid of any hot spots and leave to cool. Test the temperature before giving it to your baby. Occasionally food dries out a little in the freezer and you may need to add a little extra liquid like milk.

What foods can I freeze and what is the best way to defrost them?
Most foods can be frozen. All fruits except banana and avocado are fine to freeze and if you freeze a selection of fruits you can mix individual flavours together like apple and pear to make your own combinations. Nearly all cooked vegetables, meat, fish and chicken purees are fine to freeze. However eggs don’t freeze very well.

You can keep frozen baby food for up to 8 weeks. To defrost, simply leave overnight in the fridge and then heat in a small pan or cook from frozen in a microwave. Always rehear thoroughly and then leave to cool down before giving to your baby.
