We understand how much there is to do when preparing for your baby’s arrival; so that is why we have put together this quick and useful guide to help you. It includes information about eating healthily during your pregnancy right through to developing your own birth plan. To find out more read on……

Go organic

You may feel concerned at this vulnerable time in your baby’s development, about the pesticide residues found in many foods, and about the additives used. If you eat organic foods, where possible, you avoid those hidden ‘extras’. The best of it is that organic food tastes great, and on average contains higher levels of vitamin C and certain essential minerals such as calcium and iron. Continue to use organic foods after the baby’s birth – it is also a great way to be kinder to the environment.

Tips for Healthy Eating

Throughout your pregnancy and when your baby arrives, it is important to continue to eat healthily, especially if you are breastfeeding. Try some of these simple and easy to prepare foods:

  • Jacket Potatoes
  • Salads
  • Soup
  • Pasta

Don't forget your recommended 5 portions of fruit and vegetables each day. If you are finding it hard to do this, try one of HiPP's Organic Purely Fruits varieties. They are smooth fruit purees in handy pots and they’re not just for babies!
Drinking plenty of fluids is good for you and will also help you when you are breastfeeding. Try some of the HiPP fruit juices that are refreshing and low in acidity – varieties include Mixed Fruit and Apple, Pineapple & Banana. HiPP also do a fennel tea, that is soothing and naturally caffeine free.

Other ways to go green:

  • Reuseable or biodegradable nappies
  • Organic toiletries
  • Organic baby clothes
  • Forest friendly toys which are made from FSC certified wood.

Have you thought about a birth plan?

Birth plans are simply a record of what you would like to happen both during and after the birth. Talk things through with your midwife, they will be able to give you lots of good information and answer any queries you may have. HiPP Organic has put together a birth plan, which covers everything from who you want as your birthing partner to the type of pain relief you would like.
