Pampers Active Fit with Nicki Waterman is a gentle and fun introduction to a range of activities for children to enjoy with mum or dad. It is a great way for your baby to develop strength and suppleness, improve physical co-ordination and mental concentration as well as increasing self-awareness and self-confidence.
Babies and young children are naturally flexible and will enjoy the animal role-play but may find things like balancing and relaxing more challenging. Pampers Active Fit with Nicki Waterman is designed for fun, not as a manual, so allow it to take its own playful form and give your child lots of encouragement.
NICKI'S TIPS:
- Practice with bare feet or soft shoes on a non-slip surface; use a clear space in a warm room and wear loose and comfortable clothes.
- Like any form of exercise it is best not to practice these activities immediately after eating.
- Practice with your child so that he or she can copy you.
- Allow your child to play around with an activity before moving on to the next one.
- Most importantly, keep your activities simple, playful and fun!
1) ROAR LIKE A LION
Get on your hands and knees, sit back on your heels, stick your tongue out as far as possible, and look up. You're both lions, so make sure you roar!
2) HOP LIKE A FROG
Stand with your feet hip-width apart, toes turned out. Squat down (squat on your toes at first, your heels will gradually come down), put your hands on the floor between the knees, directly under the shoulders and hop around like frogs.
3) PRETTY KITTIES
From kneeling, streeeeetch your arms out in front of you. Come up onto your hands and knees keeping your back straight and look in front. Stand up from kneeling and show your paws.
4) MOVE LIKE A MONKEY
From standing raise arms in front from the sides, then bend from the waist, letting upper body, arms and hands relax towards the floor. Keep knees bent if more comfortable. Uncurl slowly back to a standing position. You’re the King of the Jungle.
5) BE A TREE
Stand firmly rooted with both feel on the ground. Feel how the weather is gradually changing: from sunny and still to windy to blustery to an all-out thunderstorm. How do all the trees shift and move with the weather? Make wind and leaf-rustling sounds. Is that a storm? Woahhhhh!
6) FLOWER POWER
Curl up on the ground like seeds, then imagine being watered and the sun shining. Slowly expand, then rise up out of the ground. Slowly, now! Gradually get taller and taller until your head, face and arms open up into a beautiful bloom.
