Ashlee Simpson 'excited' about first baby

Celebrity mum-to-be Ashlee Simpson-Wentz has expressed her uncontrollable excitement at the prospect of becoming a first-time mum, reports reveal.

The 23-year-old singer is expecting her first child with new husband Pete Wentz later this year and can't contain her joy.

Ashlee told ET Canada: "The baby is my main focus right now. We're both so excited. I mean, this is definitely the happiest moment in my life.

"We're getting the nursery ready. I can't wait to be a mum and he can't wait to be a dad, so it's fun."

The Pieces of Me songstress tied the knot with Fall Out Boy bassist Pete Wentz in May this year after months of speculation on the couple's engagement.

Commenting on her newly acquired mothering skills, Ashlee added: "My mom and my grandmother [have] given me good motherly advice. But it's one of those things where your mother instincts kind of kick in right away."

Divorced newlyweds star Jessica Simpson is Ashlee's older sister.
