Beyonce is pregnant, says friend

R n' B singer Beyonce Knowles is pregnant, according to the New York Post.

A friend of the Crazy in Love performer told the newspaper that she has gained a lot of pregnancy weight.

"When she gains weight, she normally does the Def Jam detox, but not now," the pal said.

Beyonce married long-term boyfriend Jay-Z in a secret ceremony last month, which also fuelled speculation that she may be pregnant.

However, a representative of the 26-year-old singer has not confirmed the reports, stating: "I don't know if she's pregnant. Let me perform an ultrasound and get back to you."

If the claims are true, perhaps the Bootylicious singer may want to take some time out from her vigorous dance routines.

Mary Murry of the American College of Nurse-Midwives recently told the Mayo Clinic that taking a break from work or housework to relax can often ensure a smooth birth.
