Bristol Palin gives birth to a son
The daughter of US vice-presidential candidate Sarah Palin, Bristol, has welcomed a son, reports reveal.

People magazine confirmed that the 18-year-old first-time mum gave birth to a baby boy on Sunday 28th, weighing in at a healthy seven pounds and four ounces.

Baby Tripp Easton Mitchell Johnston is Bristol's first child with boyfriend of three years, fiance Levi Johnston. The young parents are planning to tie the knot in 2009.

"Bristol and the young man she will marry are going to realise very quickly the difficulties of raising a child, which is why they will have the love and support of our entire family," Mrs Palin commented.

The pregnancy was announced in September this year during the US presidential election campaign.

Sarah Palin is mum of five children, three daughters and two sons aged between 19 years and a few months old. Her youngest son Trig was born with Downs Syndrome.
