Brooke Shields reveals adoption plans
03 Nov 2008Hollywood actress Brooke Shields has revealed plans to adopt a child next year, according to new celebrity reports.
The 43-year-old star is already mum to daughters Rowan, five and two-year-old Grier with husband of seven years, TV writer Chris Henchy.
"We would adopt. I think it might be the next thing. I'm starting to think about that," she said.
However, unlike fellow American actresses Angelina Jolie and Meg Ryan, Brooke is considering adoption within the US, saying: "There are a lot of babies out there in our immediate back yard that need families."
After the births of her daughters, the Lipstick Jungle star has spoken openly about her experience of post-natal depression. She also published a book on the subject entitled Down Came the Rain.
The actress suggested that her postpartum depression was triggered by traumatic childbirth, the stressful process of IVF and the death of her father.
Commenting on family life, Brooke told OK!: "We love to cook in the house and have people over. Then we can have the kids with us."
