Caravans offer families cheap getaways
Out of season caravan holidays and weekend breaks are hugely popular among a growing number of British families.

As the credit crunch puts added pressure on parents to cut back on family spending, many Brits see caravan breaks as an affordable, yet fun option for a family holiday.

A spokesperson for the Caravan Club explained: "When you have a package holiday it's over and done with. If you were to spend that money on a second hand caravan you can have a holiday every Friday evening. You're not tied to two weeks every year."

The number of motor homes registered in the UK last year was 11,646 – the highest figure to date. This shows another year of steady growth on the previous year's figure of 11,069 and follows a decade of rising sales.

Also, sales of caravan holiday homes rose by 12 per cent to 23,150, while sales of park homes increased by almost 15 per cent to over 2,600.
