Cruise 'hurt' at Suri comments
06 May 2008Tom Cruise has admitted that the "cruel" rumours surrounding his daughter Suri have left him stunned and hurt.
Cruise told Oprah Winfrey that media remarks about Suri's appearance, such as claims that she could be disabled, have gone too far.
In an exclusive interview with the chat-show host at his Telluride, Colorado estate, the Mission Impossible star, said: "When someone compares your daughter to 'Rosemary's Baby'... It's one thing to say things about me but when it's about my children or my family, that is off the charts."
Tom Cruise and Katie Holme's first daughter, Suri Cruise, has been at the centre of speculation since her birth in April 2006.
Rumours over Suri's paternity were rife ever since Katie Holmes announced she was pregnant, the scrutiny increased when the couple did not show the baby in public for several months.
Cruise also admitted in the interview with Oprah that he was "wrong" for attacking Brooke Shields for turning to medication to help beat post-natal depression.
"I'm not trying or want to tell anyone how to live their life or what they should believe or shouldn't believe," the Scientologist told Oprah.
It was the first time since his couch-hopping stunt three years ago that Cruise had appeared on the Oprah Winfrey show.
