Educational toys top Santa's agenda
18 Dec 2007A new survey has revealed that 87% of parents in the UK intend to give their children at least one educational toy from Santa this Christmas.
Research from toy company Born to Play found that 91% of parents advocate the benefits that educational toys have for child development and advancement of learning through play.
Leah Burman, educational and child psychologist, commented: "The age of three is the perfect time to increase awareness and begin developing basic skills. Educational, and particularly interactive toys, can play an integral role in this learning process.
"By giving development focused toys that encourage conversation and responsive activities as presents, parents can certainly help to get the most out of each stage of their child's development and offer a head start over other children," she added.
The study showed that the new interactive My Friend Rupert Bear came out on top of parents' Christmas toy must-have list with its latest innovations in voice recognition and motion sensor technology.
