Heels for babies hit the UK
28 Nov 2008A new "fun" range of baby shoes has been launched in the UK and is being marketed as the first high-heel footwear for babies, reports reveal.
Available for infants up to the age of six months, the Heelarious collection includes a variety of baby-sized adult shoes in pink, black and animal print.
Since the baby heels have been unveiled, reactions from mums have been mixed, according to the UK salesperson.
Distributor of the novelty footwear line, Julia Taylor, said: "There are people who say heels aren't for babies but, at the end of the day, they're just meant to be a bit of fun - a pretty finish to a party dress.
"If you think about it - some mums think it's pretty to get their baby's ears pierced and that can be painful. These shoes are nothing like that - they're completely soft, comfortable and safe for the baby."
Hailed as the next big thing in the US, the shoes are soft booties designed to look like adult high heels.
