Mums 'stressed by journeys and packing'

05 Jun 2008

Mums
Travelling and packing are the most stressful aspects of going on holidays for mothers, it has been revealed.

A survey by Holiday-Rentals.co.uk found that four out of five mums end up doing all of the holiday planning - meaning they may be less than relaxed before they set off.

However, the firm has offered various tips for mothers to cope with planning and going on holiday.

Parents should begin packing around two weeks in advance to minimise stress, it claimed, and remember to split the family's clothes between suitcases in case one gets lost.

"Don't pack too much stuff, the less gear you take the better and often you don't really need it," it advised. "Kids don't care if they wear the same clothes three times."

It advises them to bring a portable DVD player, blow-up pillows, blankets and sweets for the journey to reduce any discomfort and boredom children may feel.

On arrival, if a mum has put coloured ribbons on the family suitcases, kids can get involved in spotting them on the carousel, it added.

Abbey Credit Cards recently named Spain as the country which can give a family the most value for money this year.

It's a great idea and would get my vote!
It's a good idea, but not a priority
Sharing a postnatal ward is safer if anything were to happen to you or your baby
Money should be spent on more midwives instead
It's unrealistic and would be a waste of money
