NCT launch campaign network
23 Jun 2008The National Childbirth Trust (NCT) has launched a new network for people who want to campaign on issues surrounding pregnancy, birth and early parenthood.
NCT Active is to feature up-to-date campaigning news, tips and opportunities for lobbying and activities and tools for future projects.
Nina Monksfield told the organisation that she used NCT Active when her local maternity services were changed.
"It was helpful to know there was somewhere to go for advice and support and the best action to take," she said. "There's lots of information that I didn't even know existed to help me to fight for the best possible outcome for women locally."
So far this year, the NCT claims to have saved four closing maternity units, introduced tighter advertising restrictions on formula milks, campaigned for the rights of mothers to breastfeed while out and about and is soon to present awards to certain maternity services.
It has also recently launched an online support network for new fathers NCT E Dads.
