New device claims to decode baby's cry

New device claims to decode baby
A new baby monitoring device has been designed to help parents understand why their infant is crying.

The Whycry monitor aims to help parents know how to calm their baby in the first few months after birth by analysing the breathing, energy, frequency, pitch and cycle of their newborn's cry.

According to the product's manufacturer, it can tell whether the baby is stressed, annoyed, bored, tired or hungry.

Invented in Madrid, the monitor has received mixed reviews, with some experts recommending that parents judge their own instincts rather than rely on technical readings.

Sheila Kitzinger, social anthropologist and author of the book, Understanding Your Crying Baby, commented that the new device may provide some answers and immediate observations but added that she doesn't advise that parents depend on it to understand their baby's moods, the Daily Mail reports.

The first months of a child's life can be challenging for new parents, as they learn to respond to what their baby is trying to communicate.
