Nicole Richie gives birth to baby girl

Hollywood socialite and fashion icon Nicole Richie has given birth to a baby girl, reports have revealed.

The 26-year-old Simple Life star welcomed daughter, Harlow Winter Kate Madden weighing in at 6lbs 7oz, with rocker boyfriend Joel Madden on Friday.

A spokesperson for the proud parents told People magazine: "The beautiful healthy baby girl left the hospital with her ecstatic parents."

Joel, 28, added: "We are very blessed she's healthy and beautiful and so good already."

Nicole announced her pregnancy back in July in an interview with US anchorwoman Diane Sawyer on Good Morning America.

Reports claimed that the first-time mum received some words of advice from mum of three and supermodel Heidi Klum just before the birth.

After bumping into each other at the Beverley Hills Hotel, the Victoria's Secret model told Nicole: "You'll do fine. Just trust your body. It knows what to do. Just get in there and - whoop! - push that baby out."
