Nicole and Joel to adopt

Hollywood socialite Nicole Richie and boyfriend, rocker Joel Madden have revealed plans to add to their young family through the process of adoption.

The celebrity parents welcomed their first child, daughter Harlow, in January last year and are now reportedly considering adopting a baby from a disadvantaged background, as a new addition to their family.

Commenting on their future baby plans, Good Charlotte frontman Joel, 29, said: "I went to the Central African Republic and fell in love with the place. If I was going to adopt, it would probably be from there.

"Nicole and I are very happy and eventually we'd love to have more kids, especially if they can all be as easy and wonderful as Harlow!"

The couple will celebrate baby Harlow's first birthday on January 11th.

Simple Life star Nicole, 27, gave birth to their daughter at celebrity Los Angeles hospital Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, weighing six pounds and seven ounces.
