Package holidays 'suited to families'

17 Apr 2008

Package holidays
Package breaks can offer a wide range of benefits to young families, looking for affordable holiday options with minimum hassle, according to online comparison site travelsupermarket.com.

Kayte Williams, holiday travel manager at travelsupermarket.com, explained that with package deals families have the comfort of knowing everything is included.

"Generally, package holidays suit a family model… Families can pre-book things like cots and pushchairs for their children, and these are things you wouldn't necessarily get if you went out and booked your flight and hotel separately.

"An additional benefit is children's clubs as well," she added.

According to recent research conducted by Halifax Travel Insurance, 2.5 million Brits take a package holiday to an exotic destination every year, but only spend an average of seven hours away from their hotel.

Popular package destinations for families include Majorca, the Red Sea, Costa del Sol, Cyprus, Portugal, and the Canary Islands.

Research has shown that almost three quarters of package holiday goers never visit modern tourist attractions such as a water or theme park.
