Parents advised to holiday in Spain

Parents advised to holiday in Spain
Spain offers the best value for a family holiday this half term, it has been revealed.

According to Abbey Credit Cards, parents can expect to pay around £348 per family member for a break in a four-star hotel over the half term, compared to £439 in Cyprus or £553 in the Algarve.

The firm warned that families looking to take their holiday in the school break could be faced with premiums of up to 80 per cent, meaning it may be cheaper to take a holiday in the UK.

Callum Gibson, head of the Abbey Credit Cards, remarked: "For many families money is tighter this year, so every penny counts. There are a number of ways to keep costs down on foreign holidays such as booking in advance to get the best deal."

Mr Gibson also advised parents to shop around for the best exchange rate available.

Frances Tukes, spokesperson for the Association of British Travel Agents this week recommended that all-inclusive package deals are best for families.

She explained that such holidays can allow parents to spend very little abroad as so many free things are thrown in.

It's a good idea, but not a priority
Sharing a postnatal ward is safer if anything were to happen to you or your baby
Money should be spent on more midwives instead
It's unrealistic and would be a waste of money
