Samantha Morton has baby girl

British actress Samantha Morton has given birth to her second baby girl, reports have revealed.

The 30-year-old Morvern Callar star and Academy Award nominee welcomed daughter Edie, weighing a healthy 7lb 8oz, on Friday with fiance filmmaker Harry Holm.

Baby Edie will join half-sister seven-year-old Esme - Samantha's first child with former partner Charlie Creed-Miles.

A spokesperson for the actress said: "Mum and baby are doing brilliantly."

Samantha announced the news of her second pregnancy in August of last year and delayed finding out the sex of the baby until the birth.

The new arrival comes as Samantha receives a Golden Globe nomination in the category of Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role in a Series, Mini Series or Motion Picture Made for Television for her portrayal of Myra Hindley in the 2006 drama Longford.

Records show that in 2007 Jack and Grace were the most popular baby names registered in England and Wales.
