Stay-at-home mums seek extra work
10 Oct 2008With the onset of rising living costs and tighter family budgets, more stay-at-home mums are being forced to return to work, reports reveal.
Thousands of full-time mums nationwide are now looking for temporary, ad-hoc work online in a bid to make ends meet in the current financial climate.
"Before the advent of the internet, there was no outlet for stay-at-home mothers to harness their skills to generate an income," explained Xenios Thrasyvoulou, founder and CEO of recruitment site PeoplePerHour.com.
"Now businesses across the UK can easily source a talented and experienced mothers looking for an additional income."
According to national statistics, 57% of mothers in the UK are officially registered in employment.
Recent reports suggested that many of Britain's mothers simply can't afford to return to full-time work due to escalating childcare costs and so recruitment insiders have seen a growing trend in women fitting part-time work in and around raising their families.
