Stressed mums 'tempted to avoid family travel'

27 Mar 2008

Stressed mums
The stress of planning a family holiday deters mums from wanting to go away at all, new research has revealed.

A survey conducted by Holiday-Rentals.co.uk found that 84% of mums are left to take sole responsibility for organising and planning the family holiday, with 60% finding the task a stressful experience.

According to the findings, planning a family vacation is the most stressful event in a mum's life after moving house and preparing for Christmas.

The research showed that the journey to and from the holiday destination caused the most stress, with almost 29% of mums being anxious about the prospect of long flights and confined car trips.

To make the experience a little easier and less stressful for busy mums, Greg Grant, UK managing director for Holiday-Rentals.co.uk, recommended: "Renting a holiday home provides families more space, privacy, comprehensive facilities, and the flexibility to take time out for themselves.

"Unlike hotel rooms, holiday homes give kids space to breathe and parents freedom to relax in another room, but everyone is still under the same roof."
