Pregnancy skincare

Sometimes even the most well-rested skin can lack a certain something.

Particularly during pregnancy, when hormones, pigmentation changes and spider veins can play havoc with the fairest of faces. So if all else fails and you're not exactly blooming ... cheat! After all, no-one's perfect, and even the likes of Gwen and Angelina need a helping hand every now and then.  Here's how to fake the pregnancy glow.

Quick fix tips

Celebrity make-up artist Claire Ray, whose clients include Keira Knightly and Kate Moss, offers a few quick fix tips:

  1. Apply pink cream blusher on the fleshy part of your cheeks to give a healthy glow.
  2. Mix a little bit of fake tan with your moisturiser to rehydrate and hide sallow skin. Try the ‘Fakeover’ range from Elegant Touch which gives skin a moisturised, bronzed glow.
  3. Mix a highlighter cream with your concealer and apply under eyes to cover any bags and reflect the dark circles.
  4. Bring out bright eyes with a white kohl pencil on the inner rim of eyes to make them look clear.

Pressed for time?

If you have less than half an hour in which to beautify yourself and get out of the door, Ray suggests:

  1. Lightly apply a thin layer of foundation as a base.
  2. Gently rub in a cream highlighter across your cheekbones for added highlight effect, followed by a cream blusher well blended in.
  3. If you are strapped for time, forget the eye shadow – instead focus on a really good jet black mascara to draw attention to your eyes.
  4. With your cheeks and eyes under wraps, finish off your look with a splash of lip colour.

I find tinted moisturiser is the way forward ! Bit expensive , but chanel is the best , and yes pink blusher
I work for Origins and can really recommend their liquid foundation for medium/full coverage. It gives a lovely dewy finish, and the tones are very easy to match. Origins are completely natural, with no synthetic fragrances or colours and no parabens. If you are having trouble making your foundation sit well on your skin, try exfoliating more regularly. If you can get to an Origins counter then ask one of the girls for a sample of Modern Friction - this is Origins power product for sloughing away dead skin and impurities. Hope this helps x
Benefit High Beam is a pregnancy must-have for that glow! Its great - expensive, but a little goes a long way.x

baby gender guesser real and no. but i like bounty
I'm finding it really hard to find a good foundation to wear now I'm pregnant. My old one just makes my skin really dry and patchy and all the others I've tried dnt cover imperfections at all. Any ideas?? Help x
I find Benefit Cosmetics fantastic for that healthy natural glow, and in particular love That Gal which is a primer, which gives a lovely glow, with You Rebel Lite (as I am very fair) which is a tinted moisturiser. It blends with your natural skin tones, so no nasty lines etc and has vitamin a and e in it so is great for your skin. These are my faves
