Maclaren to issue free safety kits

Buggy manufacturer Maclaren has offered a free safety device to British parents worried about its pushchairs after concerns were raised earlier this week about injuries to children.

Maclaren announced this week it was recalling one million buggies in the US, following injuries to children who had caught their fingers in hinges when the buggies were being folded.

The company is to issue cloth safety covers which clip over the metal hinges.

Dylan Johnson, general manager of Maclaren UK, said: "We stress that our buggies are completely safe and fully compliant, but if parents remain concerned or worried, we urge them to talk to us."

Parents wishing to get hold of a kit should either call 01377 841 320 or email, with full address, advice@maclaren.co.uk.
