• Shop around online. Don't drag your poor swollen ankles round all the shops. Put your feet up with a glass of chilled Shloer Rosé and use the Web to shortlist what you want to see. Why not have a look at Habitat's range of furniture online.
• Don't buy every little thing the magazines tell you to. Find out what you're likely to need. Dig around in online mums' forums, ask friends and relatives for advice.

• Give yourself enough time. Some retailers can take eight weeks or longer to deliver. The sixth or seventh month of your pregnancy is a good time to order.
• Buy big items together. You can get chunky discounts buying nursery furniture as a set. Matching items also make a small room look less cluttered.

• Somewhere for your baby to sleep
  Babies spend more time in bed than anywhere else, so it needs to be safe, comfy, adjustable for when they grow, and strong for when they bounce. Buy the best quality cot and mattress you can afford, meaning you don't have to buy more than once!
• Changing Station;
  If you have enough space in the room, a changing table will allow everything you need to be in easy reach (making the most of your two hands!). If not, a portable changing mat will be more than adequate, or why not try one of those nifty changing attachments to fit over the cot. Whatever you decide make sure you've got nappies, creams and wipes within easy reach. And your baby's favourite teddy!
• Somewhere to keep stuff
  Baby clothes may seem teeny, but you'd be surprised how much room they take up. You may need to change outfits several times a day so have a pile of clean bibs, baby grows and blankets nearby. Remember pretty frocks may look cute dangling on little pink hangers inside the wardrobe but it's not essential and take up space and time to hang!
• Somewhere for you to sit
  You may be spending a lot of time in this room so you need somewhere comfortable to relax and enjoy time with your baby. A glider chair with a matching footstool would be fun but they can be expensive and they do take up a fair bit of room. If not how about a spare arm chair from your sitting room with some extra cushions. Either way make time to enjoy a glass of chilled sparkling Shloer.

  The nursery is just as much a room for you as for your baby, so make sure it I somewhere you can enjoy. Hang your favourite picture and bring in some photographs of times when you felt great. Keep some of your favourite books nearby to read - you could even share them with your baby!
