Aggression in children

All children have moments when they lash out in anger by swearing, shouting, throwing or kicking objects.

There are times when the aggression they show can seem particularly frightening and out of control, whether it’s to parents, other family members or outside the home.

Parents often feel helpless and in despair about their children’s behaviour. They may think it’s their fault that their children act in this way. However, the pressures that might have led to a child feeling angry and distressed could be out of a parent’s hands and they shouldn’t feel guilty or to blame.
