Argos tells all parents to stop using named car seats ‘immediately’
Safety concerns force Argos to recall five models of Mamas & Papas car seats
Car seats recalled:
- Mamas & Papas car seats
- Exclusive to Argos
- For safety reasons
Parents urged to stop using five models of Mamas & Papas car seats sold through high street retailer Argos ‘immediately’.
Argos has recalled the five models over safety concerns with reports of the models’ shells cracking under impact.
The recalled models are:
Mamas & Papas Mercury Group 1 Black (Argos no: 297/7526)
Mamas & Papas Mercury Group 1 Grey (Argos no: 411/9100)
Mamas & Papas Mercury Group 1,2,3 Black (Argos no: 305/6037)
Mamas & Papas Mercury Group 1,2,3 Grey (Argos no: 397/9530)
Mamas & Papas Mercury Group 2,3 Black and Grey (Argos no: 245/4829)
The seats are made exclusively for Argos by nursery brand Mamas & Papas who have said they have had no incidents reported to them directly.
Argos released a statement saying: “We have identified a potential safety concern.
"In the event of an accident the car seat shell may crack and therefore not provide the intended level of protection to the user."
It said that any customers who had bought one of the seats "should immediately stop using the product" and return it to an Argos store for a full refund.
"We wish to thank you for your co-operation and apologise for any inconvenience caused by this recall."
