How long will it take?

Even if everything is working well, you have only a one in four or five chance of getting pregnant in each cycle.

So, on an average it will take a couple in their early twenties about five cycles or months. Women in their early thirties will get pregnant, on average, after nine months.

One in 10 couples without any problems will take more than a year to conceive; one in 20 (5%) will take more than two years. Some couples will be lucky and get pregnant straight away, others will still be trying a year later and it still doesn’t mean there’s anything wrong.

Top conception tips

Here are five things to focus on in your quest to conceive:

  1. Eat well

  2. Cut back on caffeine

  3. Don’t use recreational drugs, including tobacco

  4. Avoid alcohol

  5. Have sex often!

Hi there, im new to this website and just working my way round it!! I found out in 2007 that i have polycystic Ovaries and ive been trying since 2006 and still have had no luck :( Ive been for loads of different tests and all say im ovulating normally and my periods were not a usual cycle but recently past 3months they are regular which is good, but me and my partner have been doing all the myths and different things people tell you to do and still no luck. I am now wearing a fertility ring which a friend passed on to me, can only wear it and see if it will help! Has anyone got any ideas for me please!!?? Thank You for listening Sherrie
