Infertility

Waiting to see if your period arrives each month can be an emotional roller coaster. If it’s been a while since you started trying you may be starting to wonder if there’s a problem. If you haven’t conceived after 12 months of trying (or six months if you’re 35 years or more), it’s time for a chat with your GP. They can check your general health and arrange some fertility tests for you and your partner. It’s a good idea to get clued up before you go along, and here on Bounty.com you’ll find what fertility tests involve, which factors can affect your fertility and what treatments are available. Your GP can suggest ways to improve your chances of conceiving, and we’ve got loads of ideas to help with baby-making, too. Keep in mind that lots of couples who have fertility problems go on to conceive, either with or without treatment.

Adoption

adoption
Adoption is when a child legally becomes part of your family. If you have been through fertility treatment without success, or you have decided against it, you may be thinking about adopting a child.

Sperm donation

sperm donation
Sperm donation offers couples a way to have a baby if the male partner isn’t producing enough healthy sperm to conceive. It’s also an option if your partner has a high risk of passing on an inherited disease, if you are a single woman or you are in a lesbian relationship.

Surrogacy

surragocy
Surrogacy is when another woman carries and gives birth to a baby for you. It’s always been around, but now IVF means a surrogate mother can carry a child that is genetically the intended parents’.

Embryo donation

egg donation
If a couple is unable to get pregnant and have a child naturally, they may turn to fertility or medical treatment to help them.
