Taking the pill won’t harm your ability to conceive, but it may take a little while for your fertility to return to normal after you stop taking it.
When will I be fertile again?
Once you come off the pill, your periods could start anything from a couple of weeks to a few months later. It may take a while for them to become regular again. You will ovulate roughly two weeks before your first period.
You’ll probably get some light bleeding a few days after you stop taking the pill but this isn’t a proper period. It’s just the normal ‘withdrawal bleeding’ you get if you leave a gap between packets of pills each month.f
How should I stop?
If you are taking the combined pill it’s best to wait until the end of your current packet. That way you will get a withdrawal bleed as usual and your next bleed will be a proper period. If you stop in the middle of a packet, you may have some irregular bleeding for a while. If you are taking the mini (progesterone only) pill, you can stop whenever you like.
How long should I wait before trying?
Although some women get pregnant almost as soon as they come off the pill, most doctors recommend you have at least one proper period before you start trying for a baby. This is mainly because it allows them to calculate an accurate due date. Don’t forget to start taking folic acid as soon as you stop taking the pill. You may want to think about stopping smoking and cutting down on alcohol, too.
Don’t worry if you get pregnant soon after coming off the pill or mini pill it won’t harm your baby in any way.
Can the pill affect my fertility?
No – although it may take a month or two for you to start ovulating and having periods again, there’s no evidence that the pill will have any lasting effects on your fertility.

feels like a life time waiting to find out im pregnant !! been off pill 3 nearly 4 months now, body back to normal within first month which was great. had spotting few days after stopping then a normal period 2 weeks after, been pretty regular. i had been on the comb pill for 6 years, i went to the doctor to get advice on how to get pregnant, i was told to come of the pill and i was told it will take a few months for my natural period to come back and can take up to a year to fall pregnant. I came off the pill and waited 4 months, but no sign of any period, i went back to the doctor as i was scared that i was on the pill so long i messed up my body, he told me to take a pregnancy test! i was 4 months pregnant!!! i couldnt believe it!! i had no symptoms! i never put any weight on until i was 6 1/2 months!

I have been on yasmin for about 5-6 years now, i am nearly 27, and i think im ready to now be a mother, my pill is for 21 days and i will be finishing on the 22nd March, then i will have my week of period, as i have been on this pill for so long, what are my chances of becoming pregnant, if my boyfriend and i were to try almost immediantly?

I was due a pill injection on the 24th of december and I have bin tryin with my partner but still haven't had a period I was only on the injection for 3 weeks because I miss caried and now I think I'm ready but nothin seems 2 be happening I really want a baby I'm so broody I just wish it wood happen soon :)

ive been takin the pill sicne i had my little boy he is 16 weeks old now and when it came to my 7 day brake christmas week i had a bleed and havent took the pill since i am now bleeding agen and it is really painfull and body no wat to suggest

i have had the depo and i only had it once after having my eldest daughter and it took me about a year to fall pregnant with my youngest, i have also been about 8 months late with having another depo and i had no periods or anything so i dont think there is anything to worry about, it just seems to take along time for everything to get back to normal. hope this helps
Coming off Depo
I was due another depo injection at end of april this year but decided against it, i havent had a period or any bleeding at all since and im worried this isnt normal. I was on the injection about a year before coming off it. Any advice would be helpfull thanks. Becki

My gf and I have decided we would like to start a family. She was on the pill and came off it with a couple of days of her cycle. She bled for 5days then stop for 3 and has started to bleed again. Does anyone know if this is normal? We are slightly worried

i am stopping my pill as my hubbie and me r planning baby number 5 madness yes i know i have also been told that once you stop taking it a few days later it is out of your system it depends on the woman and how fertile you are really but i have also read alot of horror stories about cerazette as we r planning another baby and its not good you get pregnancy syptoms for a long time by the look of it when your not pregnant

i had 2 shots of the depo and was due my next shot on the 14th of june but i went on the cerazette pill on the 8th of june i took 7 weeks 5 days worth of the pill and then stopped on the 1st aug as my and my other half are TTC 7weeks 3 days later (22nd sept) i had a heavy period lasting for 7 days and then the 9th of oct i had spotting for 2 hrs one day and 4 hrs the next and then i have had nothing since then im now 2 weeks late i have swallen sore itchy boobs my nipples have got bigger and my ariola has gone darker i did loose more discharge but has bated down loads still constant urinating ect... i,ve done 3 pregnancy tests but all negative :( help please im not worried or anything just worried whats happening and wondering if anyone else has had this type of thing :) x
Coming off depo
I was on depo for about 6months but i didnt go back in april for my renewal injection, 2months later i had spotting for about a week then stopped completley, then since july i was bleeding every other day for about a month then in september just before i went spain the dr gave me tablets to stop the bleeding which it didnt, the 14th of september i had a 5day period which i thought i was back to normal again 2weeks later i came on again for 2days then nothing untill 29th of october, i have recently had a smear which i got my results back which said there has been "borderline changes" would these changes be from the depo? scraed incase it affects me conceiving :-( has anyone expierenced this on depo?
Getting Pregnant
traceym19 - you could take a test to see if you are pregnant? I have bought cheap ones so as not to waste money, but I have heard that sometimes people don't have a period for a while after stopping the pill, everyone is different but you could go to the doctors if you are worried? It is so disappointing if you are trying to get pregnant, but look online at the 'average' time it takes, and check you are giving yourself the best possible chance too, maybe get an ovulation kit. Fingers crossed.

I have all the symptoms every month that I am pregnant since I came off this pill in February, but every month I am disappointed. Anyone else had this problem?
