A new survey has shown that mothers find it impossible to relax during holidays, with a quarter admitting that going on a break with their children is more stressful than a heavy workload in office.
According to a poll by Teletext Holidays, three in four mothers spend their holiday clearing up after the children, while over half end up washing the dishes.
While 80% of those polled said they feel the need of another holiday as soon as they return from a break, 40% dread the annual summer holiday for all the worries it causes.
More than a third of the 2,000 mothers polled said they find it unable to switch off completely when away.
With packing and travelling to their destination being the biggest holiday worry for mothers, nearly 38% said they avoid going abroad because of the stress.
About a third said they feel the family holiday is more of a break for their husband or partner than for them, with 36% ending up having arguments over the issue of who should help out with the children.
