NHS Video: What is the risk of miscarriage?
NHS midwives explain the risk of miscarriage in pregnancy
The main sign of a miscarriage is vaginal bleeding and if you do experience it during pregnancy you should contact your GP or midwife straight away. Other symptoms that can follow include cramping and pain in your lower abdomen.
It is however important to remember that light vaginal bleeding is fairly common during the first trimester of pregnancy and doesn't necessarily mean you're having a miscarriage.
An NHS midwife talks in this video about the risks of miscarriage in pregnancy.
