What’s happening this week...

Your baby

Your baby is the size of a bean and can move around, although you won't feel it until you're well into the second trimester. It also has a tiny tail, but don’t worry, it will soon disappear!

By this time your baby’s limb buds will be flattening, like paddles, getting ready to form digits for his fingers and toes. As the limb buds lengthen your baby will develop his elbows.

The black dots that will form your baby’s eyes are now visible on an ultrasound and its jaw has also been formed.

You

7 weeks pregnant symptoms can leave you on an emotional rollercoaster; up one minute and down the next, this is mostly due to the changing level of hormones in your body. This is a normal part of the early stages of pregnancy.

Moderate exercise may be an idea to help relieve stress and your body cope with the demands of pregnancy. But this isn’t the best time to start a contact sport! Read more about how to exercise safely.

Try to eat well, and keep yourself in tip-top condition in these early stages of pregnancy.

What to think about

You may want to start telling family and friends that you are pregnant and it is a matter of personal choice but there are good reasons to keep it quiet at this early stage.

You might want to take a break and get some sun, so if you’re thinking about taking a holiday make sure you travel safely.

Take extra care over cooking preparation. Food hygiene is really important at this stage as food-borne illnesses may affect the health of your baby.

hi guys this is my second child. am only 21. ill be 22 in october. my babys due 14th of december. hope i dont go over or ill be in hospital for christmas and miss my daughters christmas. am 7 weeks at the minute and no foods r tasting right to me. my sense of smell if off the charts and somethings r making me sick.. the smell of eggs :( also i am trying to be excited for the new addition like my other half is so excited but am scared if i get excited and grow attachted to it and love it.. somehow i might loose it. so its like everyone is noticing am not as excited etc. anyone else feel like this??

Hello, I'm 33 and seven weeks into my first pregnancy. I've been feeling cramps right through the seven weeks, but last night they woke me up and I was unable to go back to sleep because of them. Im just under 7 weeks and my emotions are everywhere! Also food doesn't taste great at the moment. Im at work but all I feel like doing is going to sleep. Hi I am 7 weeks into my 2nd pregnancy and I feel so ill that I haven't really had chance to get excited yet. I didn't find out I was pregnant with my little girl until I was 9 weeks and I didn't really have any symptoms but boy am I suffering now!! I am constantly feeling and being sick and just generally feeling ill. I am hopefully things will improve as I have spent a miserable Easter with my 5 year old - poor thing.

Hi this is my second pregnancy after trying 4 2years!I resigned myself to the fact that I wasn't going 2 b able 2 give my 4 year old son a sibling that he really wanted.im now 7weeks pregnant and due on the 18th of November.i had such a pleasant pregnancy with my son but it's so different this time round!im so hormonal,cranky and tired!think it might be a girl,cant wait to find out the sex :)

Hi this is my second pregnancy and i am 7 weeks an 3 days, i feel absolutely great, the 1st few weeks was hard as i had really bad pains were the baby was inbedding itself but thankfully i feel good now. no sickness which is brill. i already hav a little girl, ella-mae whos 3 n half so wud love a boy but not really that fussed as long as he/she is healthy. thought ov a girls name lola or harmony just cant think ov boys yet. good luck every1 xxxx

Hey, i'm back to 7 weeks again, had an early scan today! Had a bleed, have done with both my previous pregnancies too and thank god, have two beautiful girls. Saw the baby pea this morning and it's heart beating away and made me so much happier, been so worried as i haven't been sick this time, just sore boobs, tired and hungry, but i always always sick with the girls. I'm pregnant with my 3rd and i'm worried because i'm not sick, i feel a little weird on a morning till i eat, my breasts have grown and are quite heavy and sore, and i'm bloated by the end of the evening, but apart from that, nothing much. OOOH i forgot, i am hungry all the time, and if i'm not wanting to eat i'm asleep. Hope the baby is ok, i know the other two are fine as they are almost 8 and 4 now, but this one, the lack of nausea is making me worry!! xx

Hi LouLouW1, i'm 7 weeks also and have been feeling sick all the time and it has been affecting my work, i've found drinking ginger ale or ginger beer (not alcoholic, lol) has been really helpful it stops me feeling sick and its really refreshing. rachie011 - what you described sounds like spotting to me, which is quite normal in early weeks I've heard. But if you're really worried about anything at all, the best way to put your mind at rest is to have a chat with your doctor xx

ABDOMINAL PAIN

Is it normal to have abdominal pain at 7 weeks, it feels a bit like period pain, I have suffered with IBS quite badly last year, I am being scanned tomorrow as there is a chance it may be ectopic, as you can imagine I am worried sick. I have no bleeding just this pain?
