Celebrity pregnancy make-up tips

You may find your skin has changed during pregnancy, it could become more sensitive to cosmetics or may become dry or more prone to spots.

Everyone is different so there are no hard and fast rules about what products are better for pregnant women than others. But being aware of the changes taking place and adapting your beauty regime to accommodate them will help you feel confident.

Book a consultation

Most cosmetics shops and department stores now offer free personal consultations where you will be given advice about what make up and beauty products are best for your skin type, colouring or style.

Don’t feel pressured into buying the products they recommend and they needn’t cost the earth if you do, Boots and Body Shop offer the service as well as the high end brands.

Do ask lots of questions. Even if you don’t end up buying from your consultant, they should still be able to give you useful information about the type of products you should be looking for.

Have a trial run Whether you’ve invested in the latest shades or you’re sticking with the tried and tested, do have a practice run of putting all your make up on a day or two before and leave it on for a few hours. If your skin has become more sensitive you will at least find out in advance if you will have any unsightly or annoying reactions to your make-up. It will also save time on the day if you already know exactly what you’re doing and you won’t have any ghastly experimental make-up disasters!

hi,i'm now in my 24th week, aged 42 and this is my best pregnancy(had 3 in my 20s).my skin is great,am fitter and healthier and still working with my horses 7days.never felt better.
i got told the spots were my body detoxing its self !!! i still tried loads of lotions and potions none worked so i just wash my face and lightly moisturise with olay morning and night and its cleared really well xxx
spots but on my bum...really annoying me now as thy hurt 2 sit down on, 24 weeks pregnant any ideas on how 2 get rid ?
I kept getting spots up till about week 15, which is unusal for me as my skin is usually pretty clear. Basically i didn't really do anything too drastic and they cleared up on their own accord. I put it down to hormones charging through my body messing everything up. Now week 23 and no spots in sight!
Just drink lots and lots of water all through the day. I have a about 8 mugs of comforting hot water at work and plenty of cold water when I get home! I am just over 5 months gone and touch wood everything has been good so far!
I was taking medication for adult acne when I got pregnant which of course I had to stop. Then I realised that my expensive cleanser wasnt doing its job either (maybe due to my skins changing a lot in the early weeks) and I was getting huge spots, so now I just use clearasil for sensitive skins (the one with a bit of exfoliator in it) and my normal fairly strong moisturiser. Then I use a clinique foundation with sunscreen in it. Fingers crossed it seems to be working and I havent had any episodes of too dry, too oily or huge spots since then. Bear in mind by the time you get to about 6 months pregnant your skin will change again: people keep telling me I look great, but I'm not sure if its the clearasil or the fact that my skin is 'glowing' as the experts say it should! Hope that helps! ps remember to drink lots or water too.
hi my name is Ali, this is my first pregnancy and im just coming into week 13. my skin is really dry and i just cant seem to keep the spots at bay! any tips would be greatly appretiated x
