CommentThere are 7,500 people living with Cystic Fibrosis (CF) in the UK. CF affects vital organs in the body, especially the lungs and digestive system, clogging them with sticky mucus, which makes it difficult to breathe and digest food.

Our objectives are to:

- Fund medical and scientific research to develop a cure and provide effective treatments for Cystic Fibrosis.
- Ensure appropriate clinical care for those 7,500 people living with Cystic Fibrosis.
- Provide information, advice, support and, where appropriate, financial assistance to anyone affected by Cystic Fibrosis.

If both parents are carriers of the faulty gene, there is a 1 in 4 chance with every pregnancy that their child will have Cystic Fibrosis..

- Each week five babies are born with Cystic Fibrosis..
- Each week three young lives are lost to Cystic Fibrosis.
- Average life expectancy for someone with CF is 31 years..

Weekly poll

With the festive season almost upon us, we'd like to know what best describes your attitude towards spending this Christmas? (Please select one option only)

Christmas is a special time of year, and we'll spend the same as always
We'll probably spend as we usually do and worry about it in the new year
We're not worried about spending, as we have saved in advance / have been spreading the cost
We've got to be more careful this year, but the kid(s) won’t lose out
We'll be cutting back this year
