Getting pregnant: Help and support

Deciding to try for a baby is so exciting and we're here with help and support right through till you see that positive blue line.

Before you start trying to conceive, it’s important to consider things like your career and finances to see if you’re really ready. Once you’re sure, you’ll want to think about stacking the odds in your favour to increase your chances of getting pregnant by ensuring you’re sticking to a good diet, maintaining a healthy weight (this applies to both men and women) and of course, enjoying a healthy sex life!

If you’ve been using contraception, it can help to do a bit of planning to work out when your due date should be once you’ve conceived. We can help give you the lowdown on stopping the pill, injections and implants and also information on how to have a coil safely removed. Once you stop taking contraception you can get your body in a happy, healthy state and get on with the fun of making a baby!

Our Bounty Ovulation Calculator can help you figure out your most fertile time. All you need to do is input the first day of your last menstrual cycle, along with how many days are in your cycle and your luteal phase (the length of time from the the day after ovulation through to the end of your period) and you’ll be able to find out the days when you’re more fertile and have the best chance of getting pregnant, along with the best time to take a pregnancy test to find out.

If you’ve been trying to get pregnant and have found it difficult, there are a range of alternative therapies to help boost fertility and a range of other fertility treatments that can increase your chances of getting pregnant.

If getting pregnant isn’t possible, there are a number of other ways to become a mum and you can read more about some alternative options including surrogacy, adoption and fostering.
