A vital collection of 5 expert-led videos – made by a team formerly from the BBC Science Department - covering all you need to know about how to find the cause of a baby’s crying, how to soothe a crying baby, how to know when something serious is wrong, and a complete course on baby massage. All included in one! Presented by Midwife, Allison Ross, and Baby Development Expert, Dr Rebecca Chicot. The massage course is advised by Paediatric Physiotherapist, Denise Watson, from Chelsea and Westminster hospital, London, and presented by yoga teacher, Alice MacLaine. Nothing tugs at a parent’s heart-strings like the cries of their baby. The instinct to protect babies is very primal – so primal in fact that the cries of various baby mammals are very similar and most mammals will even rush to the help of other mammals’ babies if they are crying. It’s an incredible bond between baby and parent and one that is important not to take lightly. Leaving a little baby crying is not a good idea since the very basic bond of seeking protection and that cry for help being responded to, will be broken. The impact of this in later life is a subject that’s still being explored, but the suggestion is that it can be a profound impact on the bond between parent and child.
The course includes the following 5 videos:
Crying, Soothing and Massage
Why Babies Cry
Soothing a Crying baby
When Crying signals a Medical Problem
Massage Course (for colic or an everyday treat)
