In partnership with bounty

At Lansinoh we've been helping mums just like you breastfeed for over 30 years. We're dedicated to supporting you on your breastfeeding journey by creating high quality products that work. From our world famous HPA® Lanolin Nipple Cream to award winning breast pumps, we support you so you can focus on bonding with your little one.

What are electric pumps?

Expressing is the best way of keeping your feeding going while giving you the ability to be away from your baby if needs be, whether that’s out for the evening or going back to work.

An electric pump is faster (and some mums think easier) than a manual breast pump. They come with suction unit, to fit over your nipple and around your boob, attached via an air hose to a base unit. This unit creates suction to mimic your baby’s feeding rhythm. The advantage is the accuracy of the rhythm versus your hands when manually pumping. Mums of twins or special care babies find the speed of a manual pump invaluable.

Double pumps offer an even faster option. Single electric pumps offer new mums the ability to:

  • express in a fraction of the time of a manual
  • use them in different positions
  • express easily and without tiring from manual pumping

Which electric pump is right for you?

There are a myriad of features, but here are a few to look out for:

  • easy to assemble and dismantle for cleaning
  • a comfy cushioned fit around the funnel
  • high number of sucks per minute
  • several adjustable suction levels

Top tips on buying an electric pump

  • don’t forget to check where your power points are, as you’ll need one within reach (if it’s mains powered)
  • ask your midwife if you can try before you buy, by renting from a hospital
  • you can get double pumps, which are even faster
  • get one that is safe to use in a steriliser

How much will an electric pump cost?

Prices start around £70.

Why our mums love the Lansinoh Single Electric Breast Pump ....

  • After researching lots of different pumps I decided to go with Lansinoh. I have not been disappointed. Easy to set up and use, I have been able to express 3oz in about 15mins each day which then husband uses to do a night feed. Not too noisy and easy to assemble after sterilisation. You can vary the settings to suit you and I have found it comfortable and quick to use, I've even expressed one breast while baby feeds on the other - saving me some milking time!
    Katherine Gwinnel
  • This breast pump has a very good suction and if used whilst feeding the baby I found I could fill a bottle in 10 minutes. It has a let down setting and suction setting and mimicked the baby suction very well. I was really impressed with this product and didn't find it necessary to have a double pump. Good quality, good value for money and machine washable. Practical to put together quickly.
    Jess Schaefer
  • Brilliant pump, simple to use. It has been great to use to speed up night time feeds by giving my baby expressed milk, as he finds it difficult to get much milk from me due to being tongue tied. It is easy to assemble and clean, and the silicone bit sits under my bra so I can pump hands free.
