Oliver has been knocked off the top spot for the number 1 name chosen for boys after a lengthy reign. Noah is now the number 1 name for boys in 2021 forcing Oliver down to second place. Noah has made the top 10 since 2013 but this is the first year it has hit the number 1 spot. Inspired by the young prince and heir to the throne, royal name George stays strong keeping its 3rd place in the top 100 for this year.
Modern names Leo and Theo have hit positions 4 and 5 pushing more classic names Arthur and Freddie down 2 places to 6 and 7.
The once hugely popular name Oscar has this year dropped out of top 10 (down 4 places).
Highest climbing boys names this year
Teddy breaks into Top 20 at position 17 and the following look on track to hit the top 20 in the coming year:
- Roman (+11)
- Arlo (+6)
- Albie (+7)
Baby boys’ names on the decline
Once very popular traditional names, James (-11) and William (-9) are also falling from favour and have now been pushed out of the top 20s into the 30s at position 32 and 33 respectively.
Followed by Adam who looks set to drop out of the Tops 50 boys names within the next year (now at position 45 – was 38).
Popular trend name since 2015, Jaxon is now out of favour dropping 13 places out of the Top 50 at position 52.
