Top 100 girls names 2025
Discover which girls names are the most popular choices
As 2025 winds down, it’s time to take a look at the baby name charts — and there’s a clear trend continuing when it comes to naming little girls in the UK. Names ending in "a" are still totally winning hearts!
Sitting pretty at number one is Isla, and she’s got some lovely company — Olivia, Freya, and Amelia are right behind her in spots two, three, and four.
And the trend doesn’t stop there — further down the top ten, you’ll find Isabella and Ava keeping the vibe going strong. These names are everywhere, and it looks like they’re here to stay. But it’s not just about what’s popular now — we’re also keeping an eye on the names that are bubbling up for 2026.
There are some big climbers emerging including the Irish name Maeve that is up 24 places this year from position 38 and edging closer to the top 10 at position 14.
Names with a biblical history also seem to be soaring up the charts with the classic name Elizabeth (of Hebrew origin) climbing a whopping 41 places from 116 to position 75, comfortably in the top 100. Maryam, also of Hebrew origin and with a biblical history is also well on the rise, up an incredible 75 places from 132 to position 77.
Former favourites, including The Beckhams' girl name of choice, Harper, are heading down the charts falling out of the top 10 for the first time in recent years from position 5 to position 13.
Other girls names losing favour include the Prince and Princess of Wales' number one girls name, Charlotte which has dropped 11 places from position 18 to 29.
