Mums can often be heard having a moan at their other halves for not doing their bit with the babies, feeding, nappy changing etc. But a new report suggests we are doing them a disservice and the modern-day is actually stepping up to the job.

The report says that more than seven in 10 new dads say they are the ones up in the night changing nappies in comparison with less than two thirds of mums.

Consumer analysts Mintel revealed that dads are getting less shut-eye of a night than mums and are more likely to be doing the night-time nappy change.

The report revealed that 71% of dads said they were the ones up in the wee small hours changing nappies compared to 64% of mums. As part of the findings, dads on the whole are getting less sleep of a night than mums with 57% of mums getting an average of seven hours to 54% of dads getting the same seven hours.

The finding are quite different for daytime nappy changes with mums taking on the brunt of these. It showed that 59% of mums change their baby’s nappy up to six times a day compared to 41% of dads.

After six nappy changes a day, mums surely deserve the night off!
