With Covid-19 changing the way we travel this year, more young families are choosing to holiday in the UK post lockdown.

A survey of 2,000 families carried out by Parkdean Resorts revealed that more than two thirds of families (66%) who took the survey were keen to book holidays in the UK in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic.

UK residents spent a staggering £43.4billion in 2019 on overseas holidays but the survey showed a -24% decline in holiday spending this year.

Of those surveyed, these were some of the reasons a UK staycation is many families first choice:

  • A UK break feels more likely to go ahead than an international holiday (44 per cent)
  • It means we definitely won’t need to self-isolate when we’re home (38 per cent)
  • Parts of the UK are beautiful in the summer (30 per cent)
  • It means I won’t have to fly me or my family anywhere (30 per cent)
  • I would like to support the UK in any way I can with rebuilding the economy, including holidaying here (29 per cent)
  • It feels safer for me and my family to stay on home turf instead of going abroad (21 per cent)
  • It’s an opportunity to explore where I live (12 per cent)

Top holiday destinations for 2020 include stunning Devon and Cornwall with its 500 beautiful beaches as well as picturesque Dorset, according to the survey. With 53% saying they plan on holidaying with young family’s which is why choosing the right holiday park is key for an amazing family getaway.
