Advice to monitor the number of times your baby kicks in the later stages of pregnancy is common today but a charity fears advice might be misleading.

Counting the number of times you feel your baby kick in later pregnancy is a way to know your baby is healthy but the charity Kicks Count (formerly Count the Kicks) fear the advice has been misleading to mums who take it to mean they should feel 10 kicks an hour.

This is not the case according to Kicks Count. The charity is determined to dispel this idea and reiterate their key message that is: “There is no set number of kicks or movements that expectant mums should expect to feel. Kicks Count advocates the importance of understanding a baby’s movement patterns during pregnancy.”

The message to pregnant women is that there isn’t one number of kicks that is right for everyone, the charity advocate a pregnant woman knowing when her baby is most active and being aware if this changes significantly.
