Emma Kenny, 52, welcomes baby girl
and opens up about grief and joy.
Emma introduced her newborn daughter, Ella-Grey, to the world on Instagram with a heartfelt post and a series of tender photos. “Say hi Ella-Grey,” she wrote. “And then we were six! This morning she entered the world with a very loud cry. The Royal Bolton Hospital have been fantastic and ensured we’ve both been looked after brilliantly.”
The celebration of new life comes just weeks after Emma experienced the sudden loss of her mother. Reflecting on the bittersweet timing, she shared:
“I lost my mum suddenly a couple of weeks back, and it’s really strange knowing that neither of my babies will get to know their grandparents. They would have adored them, just as my older boys did.”
Emma’s family now spans generations in itself — with two sons in their twenties and now two daughters under the age of two. “Ella-Grey has been lying on me all day,” she added. “She latched on immediately and is as wonderful as I imagined. But like her sister, I’m blindsided she’s a girl!”
She continued: “So now I have two very big boys aged 20 and 22, and two tiny girls aged 23 months and one day.”
Emma has been candid in the past about the pain of losing her father to suicide in 2019. In this latest post, she opened up about how grief has shaped her journey — and her unexpected path to happiness.
“When my dad took his life, I never thought I’d feel joy again. But I’ve learnt we’re not just built to survive pain — we’re wired to grow through it. I can’t undo what’s happened, but I can embrace the gifts grief brought me.”
She finished her post with a heartfelt thank you to her followers, many of whom have supported her through the highs and lows of recent years.
“To those of you who stood beside me in the dark times, thank you. You gave me new direction, new purpose — and more than you’ll ever know.”
